Identification
New requirements for crossing the US/Canadian border in 2008 are for 2 documents

1. Government issued photo ID  (eg drivers lisense) AND

2. Proof of citizenship (eg birth certificate or citizenship card

Birth Certificate

What to Expect

You will most likely be asked the following:

  • What is the purpose of your trip?
  • Where are you going?
  • How long are you staying?
  • Are you bringing any gifts into Canada?
  • Are you bringing any alcohol or tobacco into Canada? If so, how much?
  • Are you carrying firearms, pepper spray, mace?

What you may bring with you

Your groceries for the week
Personal baggage
Limited alcohol and tobacco
Limited amounts of gas (if you bring your own boat)
Your pet
Prescription drugs in their original packaging

What not to Bring

  • Handguns
  • Live bait
